• Cell-wall mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS) bind type-1 fimbriae on pathogenic Enterobacteriaceae such as E. coli and Salmonella, blocking their attachment to the gut epithelium and promoting pathogen clearance
• Cell-wall β-glucans are recognized by pattern-recognition receptors such as Dectin-1 on immune cells, stimulating macrophage and heterophil activity and modulating cytokine responses that support disease resistance
